Firearms Permit
A 14 hour class designed to instruct the security officer in the moral and legal aspects on the use of the firearm while on duty. This course will not allow the student to carry a concealed weapon. There is no temporary firearm permit. Students must wait until a record check has been conducted by the state and federal agencies involved to receive the license. Must be 18 years of age.
Fees
- Course: $115.00 (includes the use of one caliber of your choice and ammunition, as well as target and range fees),
- Add $10.00 for each additional caliber, plus $5.00 gun rental, and $20.00 per bag of ammo.

If applying for Firearms Permit and Guard Card:

Re-qualification
About one hour (Mangan Range – private range). In order to maintain a valid firearm license, a security officer must requalify four times during a two year period. Each re-qualification must be completed no sooner than four months between re-qualification. All four requals should be submitted for renewal to B.S.I.S. no later than 60 days prior to the expiration date in order to allow B.S.I.S. time to send the NEW license. You can sign up for follow-up reminders and CSTA will send you a reminder post card when time is for you to requal.
Requal Fees
- $15.00 per caliber (includes Target and Range Fee),
- $10.00 per each additional caliber,
- Gun rental $5.00 (we have .38spc. .357, .9mm .40Cal, .45Cal), and $20.00 for each bag of ammo (50 bullets).

Shooters scoring a perfect 250 points will qualify for one free range fee, paid by CSTA, at the next requal visit. For anyone wishing to improve their shooting ability firearms instructor, Dr. Steve Caballero will be available, by appointment only, for a thirty minute instruction period that WILL raise your scoring ability FREE of charge.
